CORVALLIS, Ore. - North Douglas High School beat Pilot Rock/Nixyaawii 3-1 on Friday in Corvallis to claim the 2A/1A state high school softball title.
Kalli Frieze scored in the top of the 4th inning on a passed ball to put the Warriors on the scoreboard. A pop fly out left two runners on base.
Rhyanne Oates answered with a homer to left center field in the bottom half of the inning for Pilot Rock, evening the score.
In the 6th inning, Lilly Downie and Amy Dooley scored for North Douglas.
The two teams combined for just three hits in the remaining inning and a half before North Douglas claimed their first-ever softball state title.
The Warriors completed the season with an overall record of 22-4 (10-2 in Special District 2 play).
In baseball action, Glide fell to St. Mary's of Medford 5-3 in the 3A state title game.
In the 2A/1A baseball championship, Knappa edged Reedsport 10-9.
