170725 Jordan Madrid Andrews at RichmondUNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – With the start of classes a few weeks away, the University of Richmond men's basketball team secured some depth down low as Head Coach Chris Mooney announced the addition of Jordan Madrid-Andrews to the Spiders for the 2017-18 season, the university reported at its website.

Madrid-Andrews, a 6-8, 240-pound forward, comes to Richmond from Chicago State and will be immediately eligible.

"Jordan is a great addition to our program. His experience, athleticism and outstanding effort will help our team immensely. We're extremely happy to have him join the Spider family," Mooney said.

Originally from Denver, Colo., Madrid-Andrews was a double-double machine at Umpqua Community College (averaged 12 ppg and 10.3 rpg) before heading to Chicago State for the 2015-16 season.

For the Cougars, he played in 31 games, starting 12 times and averaging nearly 15 minutes per game. He shot 51 percent from the field, while averaging 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game at CSU before having to sit out the 2016-17 due to injury.

Madrid-Andrews will join the rest of the Spiders when classes and workouts start up at the end of August.
