171103 SUFB 0048It was a tough night for local football teams during the opening round of the OSAA state playoffs.

South Umpqua (6-4) had it's five-game wining streak snapped losing to Mazama 12-0 in Klamath Falls. Snow fell during most of the game and both teams went into halftime tied 0-0 before the 4th-ranked Vikings scored a pair of second half touchdowns to clinch the victory.

Elsewhere, Reedsport was blanked by Santiam 47-0; Top-ranked Triad eliminated Yoncalla 70-22; and North Douglas had its season come to an end with a 50-14 loss at Hosanna Christian.

Two Douglas County teams moved on to next week's quarterfinals as Camas Valley (9-1) beat Cove 42-6; and Oakland (6-3) surprised Gold Beach 45-14.

Elkton had its season come to an end on Saturday losing to Wallowa 44-6.
