EUGENE, Ore. -- The Roseburg Brewers adult baseball team opened their season Sunday and suffered a doubleheader sweep against the Eugene Bluejackets.
Eugene won the opener 6-5 and the nightcap 14-9.
Roseburg fell to 0-2 in EMSBL play.
In the opener, Willie Baldwin was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI; Ethan Sweeden was also 2-for-3 at the plate.
Josh Carr pitched a complete game allowing 4 earned runs on 11 hits and striking out 4.
In the nightcap, Matt Shaver was 3-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI. Baldwin went 4-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI.
George Miller started on the mound, going 4 innings in the losing effort, allowing 5 earned runs on 4 hits and striking out 2.
Baldwin pitched the final 3 innings and allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 2 Bluejackets.
The Brewers were scheduled to take on the Eugene Cubs on June 10, but the games were rained out. They will face the Red Sox, another Lane County team, on Sunday, June 17, at Creswell High School.
