football stock0906WINSTON, Ore. -- The Douglas High School football team is holding a free youth tackling camp on Thursday, June 7, from 4-6 p.m. at Douglas High School.

It is open to kids from kindergarten through 8th grade.

The DHS coaches teach the Heads Up/shoulder tackling promoted by USA Football and the NFL.

"We want to teach kids to tackle as safely as possible with the correct form," Douglas Head Coach Silia Polamalu says. "Even for the K-4 kids who play flag football, it's never too early to learn to tackle properly."

This is a free, non-contact camp that will focus on technique.

Kids will be separated by age and ability.

All Winston-Dillard elementary schools have registration forms.

Bus transportation to DHS will be available for Lookingglass, Brockway, McGovern, and Winston Middle schools.
