ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg Dr. Stewart's American Legion baseball team kicked off the 2018 season Sunday against the Mid Valley Southpaws of the Albany area.
The Docs bounced back from a opening-game loss to take the nightcap 7-6.
Garrett Russell was 2-for-3 and Caden Johnson scored 2 runs in the Roseburg victory.
The Docs used four pitchers in the contest, with Cade Meisner picking up the win and Brody Black the save.
Roseburg suffered a 12-7 loss in the opener, despite a 2-for-3 performance at the plate by Luke Lucido, which included a 2-run homer.
Garrett Russell was also 2-for-3 with a triple and run scored. Cody Johnson had a 2-RBI single.
The Docs host Grants Pass in a single 9-inning game Monday. Game time has been moved to 6 p.m., 30 minutes later than originally scheduled.
