180613 Docs greet veteransROSEBURG, Ore. – Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's American Legion baseball team picked up their third straight win Wednesday evening, defeating the Grants Pass Cavemen in a single non-league game, 11-8. This followed an 11-5 Docs win over the Cavers Monday.

Grants Pass (2-4) looked to have things in order following a 7-run fourth that put them ahead 8-2, but the Docs (3-1) scored 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth and 5 in the fifth for the come-from-behind victory.

Garrett Russell was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI to lead the Docs on offense.

Jonathan Stone picked up the win in relief and Doran Gillespie nabbed a save, pitching a scoreless seventh.

Prior to the game, members of the Dr. Stewart's and Grants Pass squads entered the bleacher area to greet three veterans, special guests at the ball park from the VA Roseburg Health Care System.

Coaches and players from both teams made their way across the bottom row to greet the special visitors.

Up next, the Docs play in the Grant Smith Wood Bat Tournament at Swede Johnson Stadium in Eugene beginning Friday, June 15, with an opening-round game against the Siskiyous (Calif.) at 11:30 a.m.
