ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg Pepsi American Legion baseball team picked up two wins over North Coos in an Area-4 North doubleheader Monday at Legion Field in Roseburg.
The Bottlecaps (6-1 overall) won the nail-biting opener 4-3 before blowing out the Waterfront (6-2) 13-0 in the nightcap.
In Monday's opening game, Pepsi trailed 3-1 after 4 innings before Luke Van Norman smacked a 2-run single to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th.
In the bottom of the 7th, Pepsi's Mason Littlefield crushed a triple to right and then scored when the next pitch got by North Coos catcher Seth Cheser to end the ball game victoriously for Roseburg.
Van Norman went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI in the contest; Blake Watson scored twice and Garrett Zeimet scored a run.
In the nightcap, Pepsi took the win in 5 innings, the game shortened due to the 10-run mercy rule with Zeimet throwing a no-hitter in addition to his 2-for-3 performance at the plate, nabbing an RBI and scoring 2 runs.
The Bottlecaps scored 8 runs in the second inning to blow the game open, aided by a 3-run Trevor Muir triple.
Pepsi would score 3 more runs in the 3rd and another in the 4th.
Littlefield went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored including a 3-run triple. Clayton Brelage was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Trevor Muir had a 2-run double.
The Bottlecaps resume play on Wednesday, June 27, with a league doubleheader at winless South Coos (0-8).
