ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's American Legion baseball team hosted the Portland Barbers in a non-league doubleheader Sunday at Legion Field and came away with a sweep, the ninth and tenth straight home wins for Roseburg.
ln the opener, the Docs trailed 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth when Zack Holland smashed a 2-run homer to tie the game.
In the bottom of the ninth, Kyler Leischner smacked an RBI single to score pinch-runner Peyton Hope, running for Brody Black, giving the Docs a 6-5 victory.
Holland and Leischner were both 2-for-5 at the plate.
The Docs picked up a 6-4 win in the nightcap, with Cody Johnson scoring 2 runs while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Holland added a triple to complement his earlier game 1 homer, and Black went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
Noah Burke picked up the win on the mound for Roseburg.
Dr. Stewart's moved into a first-place tie with a sweep of visiting Eugene Friday night, but lost both games the next day to the Challengers on the road to split the season series, moving the Docs into a third-place tie with Eugene for the moment.
The Docs get back to Area 4 action with a home doubleheader against the Klamath Falls Falcons on Wednesday, July 11.
