ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg Brewers adult baseball team picked up a win against the 1st-place Pleasant Hill Cardinals in a doubleheader split at Sutherlin High School Sunday.
The Brewers are now 2-6 in the EMSBL while the Cardinals remain first at 8-2.
Roseburg won the opener 6-5.
Josh Carr pitched a complete game to earn the win. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits while striking out 5.
Willie Baldwin went 2-for-3 with 2 runs and an RBI. Carr was 1-for-3 with a double.
The Brewers lost the nightcap 12-4.
George Miller pitched 4 1/3 innings and took the loss. He allowed 8 earned runs on 9 hits, 6 walks, and notched 5 strikeouts. Baldwin finished the last 2 2/3 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits, 4 walks, and striking out 3.
Matt Shaver was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and was hit by a pitch. Baldwin went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Pleasant Hill took the season series, winning 3 out of 4 games, including two 1-run victories in Pleasant Hill last week.
In the July 1 opening game, the Cards defeated the Brewers 4-3. Carr pitched the complete game, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 4. Tylan Dubois was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and RBI. Alex Holland was 2-for-3 with a triple.
The Brewers lost the second game 6-5. Shaver pitched a complete game and allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 7. Dubois was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI; Shaver went 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI; and Holland was 2-for-4 with a double.
The Brewers continue their stretch of 6 straight home games with a twin bill against the Creswell Red Sox next Sunday, July 15, at Sutherlin High School. Roseburg split their first doubleheader against the Sox in Creswell back on June 17.
