SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- The Roseburg Brewers adult baseball team moved to 4-6 in the EMSBL following their doubleheader sweep of the Creswell Redsox Sunday at the Sutherlin High School baseball field.
Roseburg won the opener easily 14-4 in a 6-inning mercy rule-shortened game.
Tom Nielsen pitched a complete game for the win allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 11.
Tylan Dubois was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and Willie Baldwin scored 3 runs and walked twice.
The nightcap was a much closer affair that saw the Brewers eek out a 9-8 win.
Josh Carr pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 8 hits with 5 strikeouts.
Matt Shaver squandered a save opportunity but came back to earn the win, allowing an earned run on 2 walks and a hit batter while striking out 1 in an inning's work.
Offensively, Shaver was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Dubois 2-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI, Greg Suhrstedt was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, Carr went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Alex Holland was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
The Brewers are back in action next Sunday, July 22, at Sutherlin High School against the Eugene Bluejackets.
