DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - The South Umpqua football team is off to a 5-0 start this season and ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, according to the OSAA football rankings.

Nobody has come close to beating the Lancers. SU handed St. Mary's of Medford (3-2) its second loss of the season Friday, 55-6. The Lancers will take on Burns in a non-leaguer on Saturday, Oct. 9.

Also in Class 3A, the Sutherlin Bulldogs (4-1) are ranked No. 6 following a thrilling 30-27 win over Lakeview.

In Class 6A, Roseburg is off to a 5-0 start and ranked No. 3 in the state's largest classification. The Indians won their first league game against Grants Pass Friday, 56-14, on the road. They host North Medford next, on Friday, Oct. 8.

In Class 2A, Glide (3-1) is ranked No. 9.
