Ricky Cortes and Dontea Escanlante each returned an interception for a touchdown in the first quarter as Douglas rolled to a 50-20 win over Newport in a first round game of the OSAA 4A state playoffs.

The Trojans (9-2) are back at home next week for a quarterfinal game against the Astoria Fishermen (9-2).

Ben Goirigolzarri scored three times to lead Roseburg (9-1) to a 42-28 victory over visiting Grant.

The second-seeded Indians will host #6 West Linn (5-5) in a second round game next Friday at Finlay Field.

Oakland scored with just over three minutes remaining in the game and held on to beat Regis 40-37 in a 2A playoff game at Eddy Field.

Quarterback Logan O'Hara threw two touchdown passes to Jessup Simmons, while Ryan Comstock and David Henry added a pair of TD runs for the Oakers.

Next up, Oakland (8-2) heads to Kennedy.

Elsewhere, Camas Valley (10-1) won its 1A playoff game Friday night with a 70-30 romp over Mohawk.
