The Umpqua Valley Knights' defense held its opponent scoreless for more than three quarters enroute to a 17-6 win over the Rogue Warriors (5-2) during an Oregon Football League game Saturday night at South Umpqua High School in Tri City. Quarterback Robin Knebel threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jace Johnson and Shawn Cardoza kicked field goals of 40, 37 and 29 yards.

"The defense played its best game of the season by a mile," head coach Bion Mills said. "We had five interceptions, three sacks and held the Warriors to only 104 total yards."

Umpqua Valley linebacker Julian Lennon and defensive tackle Darren Bradfield combined for 31 tackles as the Knights avenged an earlier season loss to Rogue.

Umpqua Valley (2-5) will finish the 2009 season at home this Saturday against the Eugene Outlaws (3-4).
