fulsom411.jpgLocal mixed martial arts fighters are getting experience in the ring and seeing months of practice pay off as veteran fighters mixed it up in the ring and newcomers tasted their first experience with the gloves on at Saturday night's Annihilation Cage Fights at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, which was put on by Brass Knuckles Productions.

Several MMA fighters from Roseburg's House of Pain Mixed Martial Arts fight club took to the ring Saturday, including Chris Folsom, who won the newly vacated Heavyweight NFL Title match against Roseburg independent Nick Marshall. Folsom won his match by submission. Previously undefeated Marshall falls to 2-1 and Folsom improves to 4-3 in his MMA fighting career.

House of Pain's Evan Chappell picked up the other title match victory, besting Seong Yun Chung, who fights for Team Samurai in Medford. Chappell improved his career record to 4-0 and picked up the 155-pound SFL Title. The five-round match against Chung (7-6) went the distance and Chappell won by decision.

In the 145-pound SFL title match, Tyrone Angulio of Eugene defeated House of Pain's Cole Young by referee stoppage. Young falls to 4-2. Angulo, who fights for Benevolent Fist in Eugene, improves his perfect mark to 5-0.

In the Female Contender Fight, House of Pain's Kivonna Coccia went the distance with Team Samurai's Rose "Bad Dream" Carrillo to pick up her first win in her debut MMA match. The win earns Coccia (1-0) a title match in June and gave Carillio (2-1) her first loss.

In the 205-pound Contender Fight, Chris Westguard (2-3) of Coos Bay defeated Roseburg's Gene Blevin (2-3) of Team Punisher by referee stoppage in the first round. Westguard fights for Dirty Bay Brawlers.

In other fights, House of Pain's Nolan McGinnis loses his debut match against Billy Denny of Junction City in a split decision at 170 pounds. Roseburg independent fighter James Bennett loses to Steven Keen of Grants Pass in his first fight. Roseburg's Richard Smalley bested David Crain of Klamath Falls. House of Pain's Travis Johnson remains undefeated at 2-0 with a win over Kelly Prulhiere of Grants Pass and at 185 it was House of Pain's Brandon Mechum taking care of Brandon Miller from Team Samurai.
