Roseburg's Selmar Hutchins III captured second place in the javelin at the OSAA 6A Track and Field State Championships this weekend at Hayward Field in Eugene.

The sophomore was seeded second heading into the event and earned the silver after a throw of 182-02. Teammate Korey Smith was a fifth-place finisher in the 300m hurdles.

Douglas High's Austin Baker (400m) and Mike Bodenhamer (triple jump) each finished third in their events at the 4A championships. Jason Childs was eighth in the long jump; and the Trojans 4x100 relay team (Baker, Childs, David Guthrie and Kenton McKay) finished in fifth place.

Two local competitors finished in seventh place, including South Umpqua's Kaden McFarland (discus); and Chris Mock (800m) of Sutherlin.

On the girls' side, Roseburg's Hannah Russo (200m) took home fifth place; and Kelly Audiss (400m) finished sixth.

At the 4A event, South Umpqua's Jenny Stevenson (200m and 400m) had a pair of sixth-place finishes; Douglas High's Anna Jensen (pole vault) was sixth; and teammate Sarah Jensen (100m hurdles) finished seventh.

The 6A boys title went to Tigard; Crater won the 5A crown; and Sweet Home took home the 4A title.

Jesuit captured the 6A girls team championship; Summit finished first in 5A; and Philomath was awarded the 4A trophy.
