Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's begins its quest for a regional title Thursday at 4:30pm at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. The Docs will take on the Wisconsin state champion in a first round Northwest Regional match-up.

Roseburg is the 2010 triple-A American Legion baseball state champion after sweeping Medford 9-6 and 8-7 Sunday afternoon at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls.

In game one Sunday, Brandon Jackson held Medford scoreless through eight innings and the Docs went into the bottom of the ninth with a 9-0 lead. However, the Mustangs rallied for six runs and chased Jackson from the ballgame. Reliever Mitch Huff was able to get the final out when Matt Maurer popped out to end the game.

Roseburg finished the sweep with an 8-7 win in game two, but Medford didn't go quietly. The Mustangs trailed by four runs heading into their last at bat and were able to push across three runs before Brandon Jackson came in to record the final three outs. It is the first state title for the Docs since 1986.

Douglas County Sports Online will have video reports from Washington Trust Field in Spokane, beginning Thursday night and continuing through the duration of Roseburg's stay at the tournament.
