Tyson Dahl threw a seven yard touchdown pass to Dontea Escalante in the first quarter; and Ricky Cortes added a one yard touchdown to give the Trojans the early advantage. The Pirates cut the lead to 14-7 just before the end of the first half thanks to a five yard touchdown scamper by quarterback Justin Bohn.

Phoenix would score twice more to take a 22-14 lead late in the fourth quarter before Dahl hooked up with wide receiver David Guthrie for a 36 yard strike. However, Dahl was stopped short on a two point conversion attempt and the Pirates hung on for the victory.

Elsewhere in the Far West League, Sutherlin shutout North Valley 34-0; South Umpqua lost to Newport 27-6; and North Bend beat Marshfield 21-14.
