The sun was shining and local teams took advantage of it Friday and Saturday as the regular season for prep baseball and softball teams winds down.

The South Umpqua softballers improved to 9-0 in the Far West League after a doubleheader sweep Friday over Sutherlin, 18-0 and 20-0. The Lancers improved to 17-3 overall.

On Saturday, the Roseburg baseball team swept Grants Pass in a Southwest Conference twin-bill, 13-3 and 3-0. The wins clinched a 6A playoff spot for the Indians.
