Baseball SoftballLocal teams in Douglas County punched tickets to their respective quarterfinals after proving victorious in Wednesday playoff games.

The No. 15 Glide softball team notched an upset win at Union, knocking off the No. 2 Bobcats, 6-3. The Lady 'Cats (18-7) travel to No. 7 Kennedy for a quarterfinal match-up.

The South Umpqua girls (21-5) advanced with a 4-2 win over Nyssa in the 3A second round. They'll host Rainier on Friday.

The Roseburg baseball squad defeated Sprague 5-2 and advances to a 6A quarterfinal game at no. 3 Clackamas on Friday at 5 p.m.

The Roseburg softball team knocked off Barlow 2-1 to advance to the 6A quarters for the first time in six years. The Indians (18-9) travel to Sunset on Friday.

Elsewhere, Umpqua Valley Christian advances to the 2A/1A baseball quarterfinals with a 13-0 spanking of Culver. They'll face Reedsport on Friday, which defeated Glide on Wednesday, 2-0.

The North Douglas boys and girls won their respective playoff games; the baseball team defeated Toledo 4-0 while the softball squad took care of Bonanza, 12-7.

Teams not advancing include the Sutherlin baseball team, which lost a close 2-1 battle to Rainier; and the Douglas boys, 12-4 losers at Pleasant Hill. The Oakland softball team was also eliminated in a 12-2 loss at Kennedy.
