The ninth-seeded North Douglas softball team notched a huge shutout victory over No. 1 Grant Union Friday with a 5-0 road win in the OSAA Class 2A/1A quarterfinals.
The victory puts the Warriors (26-3) in the semifinals, where they'll host No. 20 Lakeview on Tuesday at 4:30.
Meanwhile, the seventh-seeded North Douglas baseball team also advanced to the semifinals with an upset of their own, knocking off No. 2 Monroe 12-3.
The Warriors (22-6) face No. 3 Kennedy on Tuesday in Mt. Angel.
The Drain community is invited to join in a send-off for the baseball team on Tuesday at 12:15. The route will stretch from the North Douglas High School parking lot to the Ray’s Food Place store.
