su_102210.jpg South Umpqua was unable to overcome a 20 point first half deficit and fell to fifth-ranked Siuslaw 34-13 in a Far West League football game Friday night at Frosty Loghry Field in Tri City.

The Lancers (0-4, 2-6) trailed 20-0 midway through the second quarter when quarterback Josh Kennedy found David Huling in the back corner of the end zone for a 15 yard touchdown.

After the Vikings (4-0, 7-0) missed on a 25 yard field goal attempt in the third quarter, South Umpqua marched down the field and capped the drive with a six yard touchdown pass from Kennedy to tailback James Simmons cutting the lead to 20-13.

However, that's as close as the Lancers would get as Siuslaw scored the final 14 points of the game enroute to the 21 point victory.

Simmons carried the ball 22 times for 78 yards; and caught four passes for 17 yards and one touchdown.
