Senior guard David Guthrie had 21 points to lead Douglas to a 51-40 win over South Umpqua in a Far West League boys basketball game Tuesday night in Winston.

The Lancers (4-3, 9-10) jumped out to a 14-7 lead after the opening quarter, but the Trojans (2-5, 7-12) outscored SU 20-10 in the second period and never trailed again.

Sophomore post Blake Johnson had a team-high 14 points for South Umpqua.

North Bend stayed perfect in the FWL after a 57-46 victory at Sutherlin. Chris Mock and Andrew Bell-Morgan combined for 21 points in the loss.

Elsewhere, number three South Medford got by ninth-ranked Roseburg 49-47. Micah Audiss led the Indians with 11 points; Glide was upset by Myrtle Point 62-56; Reedsport was blown out by Coquille 80-20; North Douglas beat Oakridge in 49-42 in overtime; Yoncalla beat Riddle 55-33; and Zach Dickson had 20 points in Oakland's 81-47 victory at Glendale.

There was plenty of girls basketball action on Tuesday night as Roseburg dropped a 60-29 game to South Medford; Ashley Alexander had 17 points as Douglas rolled to a 59-37 win over South Umpqua; Sutherlin moved into second place in the Far West League with a 37-14 victory over North Bend; Glide lost to Myrtle Point 41-31; and Reedsport was beaten by Coquille 48-21.

Riddle (13-2, 21-2) stayed atop the MVC standings with a 70-47 win against Yoncalla; Oakland (12-2, 16-7) remained a half game back after its 49-29 victory over Glendale; and North Douglas lost to Oakridge 33-28.
