Douglas High School is home to the Far West League's top softball player and head coach.

Pitcher Meranda Zanni was selected as the league's MVP and Kerry Dwight was tabbed 'coach of the year'. The Trojans captured the FWL championship with a record of 14-1 and finished the season with an overall mark of 17-7.

Zanni was joined on the first team by teammates Michelle Mitchell (1B); Sadie Birch (IF); Kristen Epps (IF); and Nicki Spurlin (U).

Other local first team selections were South Umpqua's Renae Schofield (P); Katrina Warner (IF); and Kesha Schoonhoven (OF); and Chey Malinoff (P); Tiff Rosemeyer (C); and Kylie Atterbury (IF) of Sutherlin.
