The Glide softball team completed a perfect 2011 season by capturing the Class 3A state championship with a 5-2 win over Horizon Christian Friday afternoon at the Oregon State softball complex in Corvallis.

The Wildcats (28-0) never trailed in the game scoring a pair of runs in the opening frame, before stretching the lead to 5-0 after three innings.

Marissa Duarte tossed a two-hitter and struck out eight batters for the state champions.

This was Glide's second consecutive trip to the 3A title game, losing the 2010 final to Willamina.

Elsewhere, Century captured the 6A crown with a 7-3 win over South Salem; West Albany beat Pendleton 7-6 in the 5A final; Cascade is the 4A champ with a 5-1 win against Henley; and Regis won the 2A/1A title with a 4-1 victory over Western Mennonite
