Brandon Jackson struck out nine batters and smacked a pair of RBI singles to lead Roseburg Dr. Stewart's to an 11-3 win over Salem Post #9 during an opening round game at the 2011 American Legion baseball AAA state tournament in Eugene.

Salem took an early 1-0 advantage, but Kyle Jaukkuri's two-run double put the Docs up 2-1 after the first inning.

Roseburg (25-18) broke open a 3-2 game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to an RBI single from Jackson and a two-run double by Josh Graham.

Next up, the Docs will play Thursday at 7:30PM against the host Eugene Challengers. 

Elsewhere, Salem Withnell beat Area 4 champion Medford 12-2; Eugene downed Hermiston 8-4; and Grants Pass lost 15-5 to Portland Eastside.
