The Roseburg Indians have finished the regular season with a 7-2 overall record while all three local Far West League teams suffered defeat as Douglas, Sutherlin and South Umpqua were all beaten by coastal rivals Friday night in prep football.

The Siuslaw Vikings are the Far West League champions after a business-like 41-14 romp over South Umpqua. The Vikings (8-0 overall) led it 34-0 at halftime and cruised to the easy victory. The Lancers end the 2011 season with a 3-6 overall record, 0-5 in the Far West League.

The Sutherlin Bulldogs were hanging on for dear life in their regular season ender with Brookings-Harbor, which saw the Bulldog's season come to an end after a 35-28 road defeat. The Bruins (2-3 FWL, 3-5 overall) will continue for a chance to make the post-season at a play-in game next week. Sutherlin finishes with a 3-6 overall record, 1-4 in the conference.

In Winston, the Douglas Trojans hoped to use their home field advantage to leverage a second-place finish in the Far West League, but visiting North Bend was too much, overcoming a four-point halftime deficit to take care of the Trojans 42-31. The Bulldogs (4-1 FWL, 8-1 overall) finish the regular season in second place behind Siuslaw, while Douglas (6-3, 3-2 FWL) settles for third place. The Trojans will travel to North Valley for a play-in game next week, while North Bend hosts Henley. The Trojans defeated the Knights 42-28 in a non-conference game back on September 16.

The Crater Comets (5-4, 3-3 Southwest Conference) made things interesting in the second half, but Roseburg was able to put away the visitors with a 55-35 win at Finlay Field Friday night. Roseburg finishes 5-2 in the conference (7-2 overall), good enough for third place behind Sheldon and South Medford, with the Irish winning the conference title after a 35-12 drubbing of the Panthers Friday night. The Indians will take a week off and then most likely play a home game against a team to be announced November 11.
