North Douglas senior Kassidee Rice has been selected as the top volleyball player in the Mountain View Conference.

MVC coaches named Rice the 'player of the year' after she helped guide the Warriors to a 13-3 league record and a berth at the 2A volleyball state tournament in Forest Grove.

Days Creek head coach Ron Dunn received 'coach of the year' honors. The Wolves won the conference title with a perfect 16-0 record before capturing the 2A state championship with a straight set victory over Portland Christian.

Joining Rice on the first team were Isabel Golemon and Nicole Ellis of Days Creek; North Douglas senior Sierra Campbell; Glendale's Morgan Streeter; Laura Grube of Crow; and Oakridge senior Kaylee Peck.

Local players named to the second team were Days Creek's Madison Caputo and Stevielee Jansen; Glendale's Lizeth Silva; Michelle Cottier of Oakland; Riddle's Pele Gianotti; and North Douglas junior Kelcee Frieze.

Four county athletes were honorable mention selections including Days Creek sophomore Jazmyn Herrington; Kim Davis of North Douglas; Oakland freshman Cora Gallup; and Brandi Joslyn of Yoncalla.
