North Medford High School has its third football coach in three years.

Mike Mitchell is the new head coach for the Black Tornado. Mitchell has 39 years of experience at both the high school and college level, including stints at South Albany, Grants Pass, Hidden Valley and Oregon City. Most recently, he was the head football coach at Sandpoint High School in Idaho.

Last season, first-year head coach Nate Becksted resigned with two weeks remaining on the conference schedule.

Mitchell takes over a North Medford program that finished 0-7 in league and 0-10 overall.

Locally, JJ Mast has been hired at North Douglas to replace Scott Baker in Drain. Mast was the former head coach at Yoncalla and most recently, an assistant coach in Sutherlin.

Bill Shaw has left Elkton to become the athletic director at Yoncalla. The Elks new head coach is Mark Evoniuk.
