Former Roseburg High wrestler Mitchell Lofstedt recently won his second national championship for Southern Oregon University.The top-ranked Lofstedt pinned four of his five opponents at the 2012 NAIA National Championships enroute to the 125-pound title. He ended the season with an overall record of 39-2 and set a new program-record of 26 pins.
Lofstedt was also named the Outstanding Wrestler of the National Tournament and earned the Gorrian Award, which is given to the wrestler with the most pins in the least amount of time.
As a team, Southern Oregon earned its third NAIA runner-up finish in the past four years.
