Umpqua Valley all-star baseball teams in the 9-under, 10-under and 11-under age groups are all trophy winners after taking home titles at their respective state tournaments in July.

The older 12-under group from Umpqua Valley finished runner up at its state tournament, losing to Upper Rogue in the totle game. The locals bounced back last weekend, taking the Coos Bay Classic Invitational. Umpqua Valley lost to Roseburg's DC Express late in the tourney, but turned around and defeated the Express for the tourney title in the double-elimination affair.

"I'm most proud of my boys for the relentless effort they put forth," Umpqua Valley 12-u coach Joe Leischner said. "We never felt like we were out of any game and always came back when we were down. These kids never give up." (Photos: Umpqua Valley 12-U above; 11-U below)
