Douglas County is home to the top 11-and-under Cal Ripken baseball team in the Pacific Northwest.

Late last month, Umpqua Valley beat Black Hills, Washington 1-0 to win the championship trophy at the Regional tournament in Meridian, Idaho.

The game was decided in the bottom of the sixth inning when Colin Warmouth scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Trent Avery. Meanwhile, pitchers Zack Mandera and Kaden Seeley combined for the complete game shutout.

Umpqua Valley is coached by Brad Seeley and Toby Luther and consists of players from Roseburg, Glide and Oakland.
