Twelve Douglas County teams kick off the 2012 high school football season this weekend.

Camas Valley begins defense of its Class 1A state title Friday night at the Dufur Classic. The Hornets take on Perrydale in a rematch of the 2011 state championship game.

Thurman Bell begins his 42nd year at Roseburg as the Indians welcome South Salem; Douglas is at home with Cottage Grove; South Umpqua plays host to Newport; Sutherlin is at North Valley; and Glide travels to Oakridge.

North Douglas will be tested early with a non-league matchup at 3A Creswell; Riddle is on the road with Neah-Kah-Nie; Reedsport entertains Lost River; Yoncalla makes its eight-man debut at Powers; and Days Creek hosts McKenzie.

Elkton will play Cove in its season opener Saturday afternoon at the Dufur Classic.
