It was a tough night for high school football teams in Douglas County.

Roseburg, Douglas, Sutherlin and South Umpqua all suffered losses Friday night. The Indians (1-1) were beaten by Sprague 40-20; La Salle Prep beat up on Douglas 44-14; Cottage Grove handed Sutherlin (0-2) its second straight setback 27-14; and South Umpqua (0-2) lost to North Valley 53-31.

Sophomore quarterback Erik Johnson scored on an 11 yard touchdown run and threw a pair of TD passes, including an 80 yard toss to junior wide reciever Marcus Loper.

Elsewhere, Oakland opened its season with a 20-0 victory over Central Linn; Elkton (1-0, 1-1) won its league opener 42-12 over Gilchrist; and Days Creek lost to Prospect 70-20.
