Cameron Mock ran for two touchdowns and Noah Avery threw one TD pass to give the Sutherlin Bulldogs enough scoring Friday night to beat visiting Coquille 20-6 at Sutherlin High School in non-league football.

The game stayed close throughout the first three quarters with Sutherlin holding a 7-0 advantage late in the third before receiver Ryan Eakin caught an Avery pass for a 15-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 14. With under two minutes left to play, Coquille scored to make it 14-6, but Mock's 55-yard touchdown jaunt sealed the deal after the Bulldogs successfully covered the Red Devils' onside kick attempt.

Sutherlin improves to 1-2 on the season and will travel to Sweet Home for a non-conference game next Friday.

In Murphy, South Umpqua's Erik Johnson threw two touchdown passes, including a 52-yarder to Marcus Loper, before succumbing to an injury on the field as the Lancers couldn't sustain momentum in a 42-20 loss at Hidden Valley.

Douglas lost its second straight game at North Valley with a 34-28 setback and Crater bested Roseburg by 20, defeating the Indians 34-14.

Other county winners Friday included Glide, Oakland, Riddle, Glendale, Days Creek, Elkton and Camas Valley.
