Roseburg, Oregon – The Douglas County Speedway will conclude the 2012 racing season this coming Saturday Night with Championship Night for the Modifieds, Mini Stocks, Open Sportsman, and Hornets! Alan Cress has already been crowned Champion in the Umpqua Armory SLM division, but they will return for a non points race, as well as the Pro 4’s from Medford will make a return trip to DCS one last time!
The Modified division points battle has been tight throughout the season between veteran driver Brad Watson, and the winner of your last two A Main Features Tom Ford who currently sits 14 points out of 1st place! They’ll battle it out again this Saturday Night under the lights at DCS with drivers such as Isaac Watson, Bobby Barnes, Kalob Watson, Rick Anderson, Dean Cast, Phil Pipgras, Cody Rasmussen, and Riley Watson! Perhaps we’ll see the return of the always fast Willie Thompson, or Tom Elam in the orange #8 of Greg Saily.
The Mini Stocks return Saturday Night to decide a 2012 Champion and Karl Smith leads former multi-year Champ Jimmy Smith by 11 points. If the season long tight battle is any indication of what’s to come Saturday Night it will likely come down to the last lap of the A Main, and every point will count throughout the night as these two battle it out with the likes of Joe Miller, Cody Rasmussen, 4 time A Main winner on the season Rob Mueller, Jaime Sumner, Ed Pratt, Kevin Ballard, Bailey Lane, and Joe Forsman. Also keep an eye on Dale Roth last year’s Mini Stock champ, Jeff Solberg, and Jason Gotz as they will likely compete to run up front!
The Open Sportsman division will return to the track for the first time since mid July to determine a 2012 Champion and it’ll come down to the ten point lead that Daniel Jobe holds over veteran driver Rick Jump! They’ll be challenged by Ron McCoy, Doug Risley, and hopefully the two Washington cars will make a return trip as Richard Kerr & Arnold Horton both saw success earlier in the season!
Dave Beals in the Hornet class has all but wrapped up the 2012 Championship but he’ll look to capture his 6th A Main victory of the season on Saturday Night! He’ll be challenged by Monique Scevers, Josh Brach, Tony Shoptaw, Neil Pecor, Rick Finnie, Pete Lemon, Steve Triplett, and Benjer Herbert. The lady Hornets division will also compete Saturday Night!
The Umpqua Armory SLM’s will come back one last time in 2012 for a non points race! We’ll see who can out run the competition on Saturday Night!
The Pro 4’s from the Medford area will return for a final time as well to compete on the asphalt. Skipper Klimcheck will look for a second consecutive victory!
