It was a tough night for Douglas County football teams.

Roseburg was one of nine local teams to lose on Friday as the Indians (1-3, 2-4) dropped a 23-22 heartbreaker to South Medford. Jake Heverly scored a touchdown in the final seconds of the game, but RHS failed on the two-point attempt and the Panthers (2-2, 4-2) held on for the one-point win.

Douglas (1-1, 3-3) earned its first Far West League victory of the year with a 47-12 win over Brookings-Harbor; South Umpqua (0-2, 1-5) was pounded by number nine North Bend 56-0; and Sutherlin (0-2, 1-5) lost to top-ranked Siuslaw 41-12.

Riddle's Michael Tracy rushed for 105 yards on 13 carries in a 28-22 loss to Oakridge; and Camas Valley (5-0, 6-0) showed Elkton (3-1, 3-2) why its the number one ranked 1A team in the state rolling to a 74-14 win over the Elks.

Quarterback Josh Mattox three three TD's and ran for three scores in the Hornets' victory.
