Sixteen local cross country runners took part in the OSAA Cross Country State Championships Saturday at Lane Community College in Eugene.

Roseburg junior Kenny Freeman finished 38th at the Class 6A championships with a time of 16:51; Oakland freshman Nathaniel Oberman was 67th out of 109 runners at the 3A/2A/1A meet; and the Yoncalla boys team of Nate Leu, Zack Nash, Thompson Rogers, Zack Whisler, Jorges Flores, Alex Anderson, Ben Nash ended up in 12th place.

The Sutherlin girls team of Michaella Black, Shelby Foley, Brittany Hanson, Ricki Mock, Kayla Mosley, Shania Wallis and Natasha West were 13th in the team competition at the Class 4A meet.
