Two former Douglas High School standouts helped lead the College of the Siskiyous of Weed, CA, to a Central Division championship with a resounding 48-18 victory Saturday over Chabot in California's Top of the State Bowl in junior college football.

With the win, the Eagles finish the championship season with a 10-1 overall record, their only loss coming to Butte in the second game of the season September 8.

Sophomore defensive back Ricky Cortes scored 49 tackles and 17 assists with six sacks for the season, while fellow sophomore DB David Guthrie netted 31 tackles and 15 assists.Guthrie was also the Eagle's punter, averaging 37.6 yards on 36 punts.

Both players are 2011 graduates of Douglas High School in Winston.
