Nearly half of the girls basketball programs in Douglas County have brand new head coaches.

Seven teams are under new leadership for the 2012-13 season, including Camas Valley which is the only school to also hire a new boys basketball coach. Dan Bachmeier takes over the girls program and Marty Amos begins his first season with the Hornet boys.

Kipp Archambault is the new head coach at Douglas after spending one season at South Umpqua. Archambault was replaced by former assistant Jack Kruger in Tri City.

Elsewhere, Brannon Smith takes over the head job in Glide; Riddle hired Dick Brown to take over for Casey O'toole who resigned after last season; James Docherty is the man in charge at Days Creek; and Clay Dickerson begins his first year at Glendale.
