Sutherlin fell short in trying to win its second straight tournament title in 2012 as the Bulldogs lost 56-51 to Crater Saturday night in the championship game at the Phoenix Invitational basketball tournament at Phoenix High School.

Taler Jensen scored 21 points and Derrik Wattman added 11 points as Sutherlin dropped to 6-2 on the season.

Earlier this month, the Bulldogs captured the championship trophy at the Douglas County Invitational.

Brevin Ball had five three-pointers and finished with 23 points in South Umpqua's 59-51 win over host Phoenix in the consolation championship game.

Erik Johnson added 10 points; and Blake Johnson pulled down 12 rebounds in the victory. 

SU (6-3) hit a season-high 10 three-pointers in the game.
