Six Douglas County basketball teams played their Far West League openers Tuesday night.

Taler Jensen scored 22 points to lead Sutherlin to a 70-43 win over visiting Siuslaw; Douglas lost at Brookings-Harbor 61-42; and South Umpqua fell at home to North Bend 44-41 despite 15 points from senior post Blake Johnson.

In Roseburg, the Indians rolled to a 75-25 win over Ashland behind a game-high 14 points from Spencer Johnson.

On the girls' side, top-ranked Sutherlin stayed unbeaten on the season with its 41-24 win over Siuslaw; Douglas upended Brookings-Harbor 66-51; and South Umpqua lost to visiting North Bend 44-40.

Sophomore Olivia Gulliford led the Lancers with 18 points.
