Sutherlin beat Douglas 53-37 in a battle for first place in the Far West League Friday night in Winston.  

The top-ranked Bulldogs (4-0, 18-0) were led in scoring by Miranda Mendenhall (15) and Kayce Mock (13). 

On the boys' side, Derek Wattman scored a game-high 19 points and Taler Jensen added 14 in Sutherlin's 55-24 victory over the Trojans; South Umpqua lost at Brookings-Harbor 69-54 despite 15 points from senior Austin Page; and Roseburg's Kai Seely scored 12 points in a 55-50 win over Grants Pass.
