South Umpqua fell short in its bid for a spot in the upcoming 4A state tournament suffering a 71-45 season-ending loss at Elmira. 

Matt Yarbrough led the Lancers (13-12) with 12 points, while Brevin Ball finished with 10 points.

Sutherlin won its sixth consecutive game with a 50-42 victory over visiting Madras.

With the win, the 10th-ranked Bulldogs (19-7) qualified for next week's state tournament in Corvallis.

Sutherlin opens against top-ranked North Valley Tuesday at 8:15PM.
