Grant Union blanked top-ranked Umpqua Valley Christian 2-0 in the 2013 OSAA 2A/1A baseball state title game Friday afternoon at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer.

The second-ranked Prospectors (23-3) scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and starting pitcher Lane Williams allowed four hits in six-plus innings to earn the victory.

UVC starter Jake Forrester took the loss despite giving up just one earned run and five hits, while striking out 12 batters.

Offensively, Forrester had two hits and teammates Jordan Mesa and Ian Graham each went 1-for-3.

The Monarchs finished the season 25-6.
