Douglas High School has hired its new football coach.

Former assistant Barrett Smith will take over the Class 4A program after serving as the Trojans' line coach under both Joe Polamalu and Neil Fuller.

Polamalu resigned after five seasons in Winston to accept the head coaching job at 5A Sandy.  

Smith, a 1988 graduate of Douglas High School, is also the school's track and field coach.
