The Eugene Challengers are still unbeaten following a 12-11 victory Saturday over Richland in 14 innings at the American Legion Baseball Northwest Regional Tournament in Eugene. With the win, the Challengers improved to 3-0 at the tourney.

Richland, the Washington state champion, is the third team to fall to Eugene, which is in the tournament by virtue of hosting it. The game lasted nearly 4 1/2 hours.

Eugene (28-30 overall) takes on Wyoming state champ Cheyenne Sunday. First pitch from Swede Johnson Stadium at Garry Selby Field is scheduled for 4PM, which you can hear live at our sister website, LaneCountySportsOnline.com.

It will be an elimination game for Cheyenne while Eugene will move into Monday's title game win or lose.

The Challengers finished last in the Area-4 Conference this summer with a 2-10 mark. Eugene missed the Oregon State Tournament after losing in a Super Regional sub-tournament, but is making the most of its chance hosting the regional. The Challengers previously beat Chugiak (AK) 8-1 in the opening round and Idaho Falls (ID) 7-4 on Friday.

Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's won the season series against the Challengers this summer, taking all four games of the series.

UPDATE: Cheyenne (WY) defeated Eugene 10-5 Sunday to hand the Challengers its first loss of the tournament. Eugene will play the winner of Cheyenne and Waihapu (HI), who face each other in a loser-out game at 1PM Monday, with the championship game following at 4PM.
