Oakland was the only local basketball team to win a game at the OSAA state championships on Thursday.

The defending 2A state champions beat Western Mennonite 45-42 to earn a spot in Friday night's semifinals.

Jeb Harper scored 14 points and Roy Benzel added 10 points as the Oakers improved to 22-5 on the season.

Elsewhere, Days Creek lost to Stanfield 56-53; Canyonville Christian fell to Irrigon 47-37; Glide lost 32-30 at the girls 3A tournament in North Bend; and the North Douglas girls had their season come to an end with a 54-50 loss to Union.
