In non-league softball Wednesday, the Douglas Trojans looked to avenge a one-run loss to the Glide Wildcats from back on April 4th, but despite a 3-0 Trojan lead, Glide exploded for three home runs in the final two innings of play to come away with a 5-3 win over its county rival.

In the bottom of the first, the Trojans took a 1-0 lead when Taylor Holcomb lined a double to the gap in left. Justine Bringhurst was allowed to score as the ball bounced over the outfield wall for a ground rule double.

Douglas tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sophomore pitcher Cidny Dupper helped herself out at the plate, smacking a solo home run to center to make it 2-0. Skyler Coate grounded into a fielder's choice to score Allie Schofield, extending the lead to three runs.

The Lady Trojans still led 3-0 in the top of the sixth before Glide pitcher Heather Graham tied it up with a three-run homer to straight-away center.

The Wildcats then broke the tie in the top of the seventh with back-to-back solo home runs by Jordyn Parazoo and Hayley Livingston, both coming with two outs in the inning. Graham was able to finish off the Trojans in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 5-3 win. (See video highlights of this game here.)

Glide improved to 14-1 on the season while Douglas fell to 13-5 overall. The Wildcats are leading the Sunset Conference while Douglas holds down second place in the Far West League.

In the day's only baseball game, visiting Glide took care of Douglas 7-0 behind pitcher Jacob Fricke's six innings of one hit ball. Sunset Conference-leading Glide (14-3 overall) hosts Myrtle Point Friday in a 2p.m. doubleheader. The Trojans (8-11 overall; tied for third in the Far West) are at North Bend Friday.
