Umpqua Valley Christian's Jake Forrester is the 2014 Class 2A/1A Player of the Year.

The senior pitcher heldped lead the Monarchs (12-0, 21-8) to a Special District 4 title and a spot in the OSAA state playoffs before being eliminated by state runner-up Weston-McEwen in the quarterfinals.

Forrester was joined on the first team by teammates Greg Suhrstedt (C) and Ian Dahl (OF).

Second team honors went to North Douglas senior Tracy Doudna (P) and Reedsport junior Marquece Williams (DP).

Five local players were named third team all-state including Reedsport's Griffin Kaufman (P); UVC's Jordan Mesa (1B) and Cooper Tharp (IF); North Douglas senior Zach Whisler (OF); and Oakland's Roy Benzel (OF).

Honorable Mention selections were North Douglas freshman Jayce Ellis (IF); Junior Joe Keller (IF) from Yoncalla; Oakland's Dustin Tabor (IF); UVC senior Josh Howell (OF); and Reedsport's Haden Sams (OF).
